Volunteer Testimonial

“This was my first experience volunteering and Joe made me feel welcome from the moment I walked into the hostel! Joe is a great guy who will do anything to help you get the most out of your time in Little Rock. He took me around and arranged for me to watch the local baseball team play, which are experiences I’ll always remember. The amount of work required was definitely reasonable and allowed myself enough time to explore Little Rock and other places away (Dallas and St Louis). The Firehouse Hostel itself is quite large, very clean and homey. It is located in a picturesque park and the surrounding neighbourhood is safe and about a 15-20 minute walk to Downtown Little Rock. Little Rock itself is a quieter town and so it is the perfect place for you to do your first Workaway or HelpX experience.

I
had an excellent work experience here. Joe and Scott are both very knowledgeable about Little Rock and the surrounding area and willing to give travel tips/rides to the bus station. Work expectations were definitely reasonable – the other volunteers and I had lots of leeway to plan our schedules as long as we meet the total #of hours. I had enough time for short trips to Hot Springs and Memphis. The building itself is nice and clean. Neighborhood is safe and close enough to downtown that you can get around without a car (though public transit is slow in LR).

Would 100% recommend to first time Workawayers!’
